"Maybe I am not good enough." or "The Coach/Boss just doesn't like me." Have you ever found yourself having that internal conversation? How did you respond? Last year my son Jax was super excited for football season to start. The year before he worked his butt off and the coaches started to notice him. So he was naturally filled with a tremendous amount of hope that he was going to be a big playmaker. And then he wasn't... As a father it is unbelievably tough to watch your kid go through this type of disappointment. It could be easy to criticize the coaches and make a bunch of excuses for him. Or to, gulp, let him quit because I can see the pain in his eyes. However on the flip side nothing can replace the sheer pride I had as a father when he met adversity and said "challenge accepted!". The lessons Jax learned last year will carry much further into his life then if he would have been the star receiver on the championship team. Last year Jax realized that all you can control in this life is the way you show up, despite the circumstances. Roar, Eat Faces Y'all!!! Next we will share what happened when Jaxson's preparation met opportunity!
