This is America

"This is America. Don't catch you slippin now..." -Donald Glover As a person that focuses on the solutions vs dwelling on the problems all my posts you see are extremely positive. However as a victim to child abuse myself I realize that sometimes we all need to have our eyes opened to what is actually happening right here in our own back yard. Because: 1. This is America 2. If we continue turning a blind eye to reality we will continue to raise children that have NO HOPE So grateful to work with a seed planter like Candace Eritano as she is on a mission to Alleviate Shame within the victims that she works with.

IF IT IS WORTH DOING, IT IS WORTH DOING RIGHT!

"Maybe I am not good enough." or "The Coach/Boss just doesn't like me." Have you ever found yourself having that internal conversation? How did you respond? Last year my son Jax was super excited for football season to start. The year before he worked his butt off and the coaches started to notice him. So he was naturally filled with a tremendous amount of hope that he was going to be a big playmaker. And then he wasn't... As a father it is unbelievably tough to watch your kid go through this type of disappointment. It could be easy to criticize the coaches and make a bunch of excuses for him. Or to, gulp, let him quit because I can see the pain in his eyes. However on the flip side nothing can replace the sheer pride I had as a father when he met adversity and said "challenge accepted!". The lessons Jax learned last year will carry much further into his life then if he would have been the star receiver on the championship team. Last year Jax realized that all you can control in this life is the way you show up, despite the circumstances. Roar, Eat Faces Y'all!!! Next we will share what happened when Jaxson's preparation met opportunity!

UnCaged w/Chris Cruise pt 2

It is A OK to FEEL Yourself!!! We are often obsessed with the idea of being Humble. Don't believe me? Just listen in to your next few conversations, and count the # of times phrases such as "I'm not being cocky or anything" "Not to brag" "There are so many better than me" or "I am not very good at..." are uttered. We have misinterpreted and redefined in our minds what it is to be humble. Humble after all is not to think Less of Yourself, but to think of yourself less. So be proud damn it, and remember what my dude Chris Cruise says "You can brag all day on yourself if you are proud. You just gotta word it better."

UnCaged w/Chris Cruise pt 1

When I was a kid I was afraid to talk. I had a speech impediment, which resulted in time spent with the speech therapist. Also because my voice has Always been entirely too loud it always seemed when I did talk I was always told to be quiet. These issues carried over subconsciously into adulthood, and I still have a level of initial irritation when someone says "Lower Your Voice." Pretty ironic story for a guy that makes a living from his voice isn't it? Once you watch this clip you will understand why I completely resonated with my guest this week on Coffee & Grit media Hall of Famer Chris Cruise.

Making The Choice

Once you choose Hope ANYTHING is possible! It is easy to have Hope in times of convenience, but what if you were over matched in every aspect? What if the odds are not in your favor? The challenges are perceived to be too great? Do you still believe with everything inside of you? Accelerated Growth

Because not ☝️ person in the world has it all figured out the key to accelerated growth is being COACHABLE. "If you are the smartest person in the room you are in the wrong room." Last year while catching up with one of my former leaders, Kelly Quisenberry, she was telling me about a new guy she is developing on her team, and exclaimed "He is so Coachable!" And then she laughed and said do you want to hear a funny story? (Of course I am always down for a funny story) She said "do you remember that training we did when I first joined the team, and on breaks we had to write down words that describe each person in the group?" Me: "Yes I remember" Kelly: "Well I remember you wrote down the word Coachable on mine, and I was so upset. I thought being Coachable meant I was a project that had a lot to learn, and I took it as a bad thing..." Me: Laughs Kelly: "Because of you I now know that being Coachable is the best trait you can possess." My guest on Episode 15 of ☕ & Grit John H. Burt has seen firsthand how being Coachable has the power to create Accelerated Growth. If at first you don't succeed... Then next time do what the COACH told you to do the first time!
